This quiet, warmhearted island is home to gentle people, a lush evergreen forest called Dangsup, centuries-old stone walls, and vibrant gardens where flowers and the blue sea hold a never-ending celebration. You’ll find cozy walking trails where you can enjoy the horizon and wildflowers, and in spring, the sea breeze carries the fresh scent of mugwort and blossoms — simply being surrounded by flowers and the ocean is enough to refresh your soul.
Ssukseom is a small and peaceful island located in Aedo Village, Bongrae-myeon, Goheung County, Jeollanam-do, near the Naro Space Center. From Chukjeong Port (Narodo Coastal Passenger Terminal, 120-7 Narodohang-gil), it only takes about 3 minutes by boat to reach the island.
We have created this space so you can take a break from your busy daily life — to walk, breathe in the sea air, and enjoy the ever-changing beauty of nature through all four seasons. Whether you are coming for a student or group field trip, to experience Goheung’s famous “open-air museum” landscapes, or to visit Korea’s only space center, Naro Space Center, we would be delighted if you stop by Ssukseom as well.
